Freemasonry is a moral and ethical organization founded on the principles of Brotherly Love, Relief, and Truth. This means we focus on kindness, charity and generosity, and integrity and honesty. These values, reinforced by the duties of citizenship , guide our members in their private, public, business, and professional lives.

Belief in a Supreme Being

The first condition of admission and membership is a belief in a Supreme Being. This is essential and admits no compromise. The Bible, or another Volume of Sacred Law, is always open in our Lodges, and every candidate is required to take his obligation on it.

Loyalty and Citizenship

A Freemason is a peaceable subject who cheerfully conforms to the laws of the country in which he resides. He must uphold the interests of his community and never be remiss in the allegiance due to his Sovereign. Our principles reinforce a member's duty as a citizen.

Integrity and Honesty

The principles of Brotherly Love, Relief, and Truth require us to maintain the highest standards of behavior, integrity, and honesty. A Freemason must not engage in conduct that is contrary to the law or that may bring the Craft into disrepute. We are bound to act honorably by all men

Is Freemasonry a religion?

Freemasonry is not a religion or a substitute for religion. It requires a belief in a Supreme Being, but it does not dictate a specific faith. We unite with the virtuous of every persuasion, aiming to be complementary to a man's religious practice, never to compete with it.

Is Freemasonry involved in politics?

No. The discussion of religion and politics within the Lodge is strictly prohibited. The Grand Lodge consistently refuses to express an opinion on political questions and stands aloof from rival theories of government or political parties. This policy ensures harmony among members of diverse backgrounds.
